S/ECR Workshop | How to Fail (Successfully)

How to Fail (Successfully)

Achievements in academia are frequently paraded; failures, however, are rarely talked about publicly. In the absence of such discussions, it’s easy to presume that you are the only one affected by such setbacks. But regardless of whether you are a student or a seasoned professor, one thing never changes: failures are inevitable. So in order to progress, and indeed succeed, we need to learn to navigate and overcome failure.

This panel aims to demonstrate that no academic career is a neat progression of back-to-back successes. We will hear from successful academics who will share their stories of failure, including how they felt, how they coped, and importantly, what they learned. Through sharing our experiences we can normalise failing, and learn how to fail, successfully.

This panel is targeted at students and early career researchers, though all are welcome to attend.
